ACCOMMODATION
![]()
Twin Bed.
Al-Afandi or Efendi is a Turkish title meaning a lord or
master. It is a title of respect or courtesy, equivalent to the English title
"Sir", in Turkey and some other Eastern countries. It follows the personal name,
when it is used, and is generally given to members of the learned professions,
and to government officials who have no higher rank, such as Bey
or Pasha. It
may also indicate a definite office, as Hekim Effendi, chief physician to The
Sultan. The possessive for efendim (my master) is used by servants and in formal
intercourse.
![]()
Twin Bed. Khanom or Khan's Queen - Consort, or in some traditions extended as a courtesy title (a bit like lady for women not married to a lord) to the wives of holders of various other lower titles.
![]()
Double Bed. Beik or Bey is a Turkish title for "chieftain", traditionally applied to the leaders of small tribal groups. In historical accounts, many Turkish, other Turkic and Persian leaders are titles Beik, Beg, Bey, Bay or Beigh. They are all the same word with the simple meaning of "lord". The regions or provinces where Beys (the equivalent of duke in Europe) ruled or which they administered were called Beylik, roughly meaning "emirate" or principality" in the first case, "province" or "governorate" in the second (the equivalent of duchy in Europe). Today, the word is used as a social title for men (like the English word "mister"), Turkish Beys.
![]()

Junior Suite/Double Bed. A title used to denote a non-Muslim, both foreigners as well as native, Christians and Jews.
![]()
Junior Suite/Twin Bed. Title for a civil or military leader. An honorific for high officials used in Turkey and certain Muslim countries.
![]()
Senior Suite/Double Bed. Wali is an administrative title that was used during the Ottoman Empire times to designate governors of administrative divisions. It is still in use in some Muslim countries. The division which a Wali governs is called "Wilayah".
![]()
Senior Suite/Double Bed. Basha or Pasha, formerly bashaw, was a high rank in the Ottoman Empire political system, typically granted to governors and generals. As an honorary title, "Pasha" in one of its various ranks is equivalent to the British title of "Lord". The Ottoman Sultan of Turkey had the right to bestwo the title of Basha.
![]()

Presidential Suite/Twin Bed. Sultan means strength and authority, the power behind the throne of the (theoretically Universal) Calipha.
FACILITIES
The Courtyard: The courtyard is the central area of Yasmeen d'Alep house, all rooms surround it. The Liwan is directed to the east of the courtyard; in the past it was used as a living area in summer. In the center of the courtyard, you find the traditional fountain which is used to cool the air during summer time from the heat, and in winter the yard is convered above thus creating warm atmosphere.
The Spa Center: Turkish bath,
Jacuzzi and steam room. This old hand dug cave is 14 meters below the
ground. It is naturally cool in summer and warm in winter; and connected with
other nearby caves through tunnels which run underneath the old city. These
tunnels have been thought to lead to the Citadel. The renovation of this cave
